Brett Kissel to Open For His Idol Garth Brooks
Brett Kissel will cross another major item off his bucket list later this month, when the singer from Flat Lake, Alberta, opens for Garth Brooks.
Brett will open for his idol at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, on Thursday, March 24; Friday, March 25; and Sunday, March 27. Karyn Rochelle, who has opened for Garth for all of his single show nights, will also open each night. There will however be no opening act on Saturday, March 26.
“Every entertainer wants what is best for the show and the people that come to see it. That is why I am so excited and honored to have Brett join the tour for the Hamilton run of shows,” says Garth Brooks. “This is going to be crazy!”
Adds Brett: “No one can dispute that Garth is the best of the best. He’s been my idol and my favorite since I picked up a guitar. To get the opportunity to open for him, well, it’s an indescribable feeling. I’ve never felt more honored or more ecstatic in my life!”
Pick Me Up, Brett’s second studio album, has been nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards, being handed out in Calgary on April 3.
2014’s Juno Award winner for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Brett did not fall victim to the sophomore slump with the release of Pick Me Up. Shortly after debuting on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Apple Music Canada named Pick Me Up the best country album of 2015 and CBC included it on their list of top Canadian albums. After a string of 5 consecutive Top 10 songs from his previous album, Pick Me Up’s first single, “Airwaves,” became Brett’s first number 1 song at country radio, while the music video reached number 1 on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown.
A music video for his next single, “Cool With That,” will be released in April.
