‘THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE AIRWAVES’
BRETT KISSEL IS #1 AT COUNTRY RADIO
CROSS-CANADA TOUR BEGINS OCTOBER 10
Warner Music Canada country artist Brett Kissel has earned his first chart-topping single with “Airwaves.” The song reached #1 on both Nielsen’s BDS and Mediabase’s Country radio charts this week.
He joins Dallas Smith, Dean Brody and Gord Bamford as the only Canadian artists to reach the top of the Country charts so far this decade. He is also now among a handful of Canadian artists who have reached #1 on any Canadian radio chart in the past few years – a club that includes Arcade Fire, Magic!, Sam Roberts Band and The Weeknd.
All six of Brett’s singles have reached the Top 10, including two that reached the Top 5 and now “Airwaves” at #1.
“I can’t say enough about the fine men and women who program Country radio stations in Canada. Their dedication to Canadian artists is unwavering and we are thrilled that they really got behind Brett and ‘Airwaves,’” said Steve Coady, Warner Music Canada’s Vice President, Radio Promotion.
“Airwaves” is the first single off of Brett Kissel’s sophomore album Pick Me Up, which was debuted on Nielsen SoundScan’s Top Albums chart this week at #7, and on the Country chart at #2.
It’s been quite a month for Brett Kissel. On August 29, Brett fulfilled a lifelong dream, performing on Nashville’s most legendary stage, the Grand Ole Opry. Following that, Brett won his third CCMA Award in two years. Brett also performed a show-stealing rendition of “Airwaves” on the live primetime national broadcast. To top it off, “3-2-1” from his debut album Started With A Song, achieved gold status this month, another first in his career.
Brett is set to embark on a cross-Canada two-month tour starting October 10 in Simcoe, Ont. “The Airwaves Tour 2015” hits every province before wrapping up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, on November 28. Before the tour begins, Brett will perform on September 29 at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square as part of Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival.
