BRETT KISSEL SCORES A #1 SINGLE WITH “DRINK ABOUT ME”
Country music superstar Brett Kissel has earned a #1 single with “Drink About Me.” Featured on Brett’s new album “Now Or Never,” “Drink About Me” was the most played song this past week on Canada’s Nielsen BDS and Mediabase country radio charts.
“Drink About Me” (download/stream) is the second song of Brett’s career to hit #1 at Canadian country radio (following “Airwaves” in 2015), and his 14th top 10 single.
“When I got my first guitar, I would sit on the little counter opposite our island in the kitchen, and listen to the radio. I would figure out how to play the chords of the Alan Jackson songs. Or George Strait songs. And I would tell anyone who listened, ‘I’m going to be on the radio one day!’ says Brett. “‘Drink About Me’ is a memory song, disguised as a drinking song, and I’m over the moon that it is resonating so strongly with country music fans.”
The pride of Flat Lake, Alberta, made his U.S. debut in the fall with “Drink About Me.” The song was released in tandem with a music video that features Bachelor Nation fan favourites Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick and shot at HGTV’s Bryan and Sarah Baeumler’s Caerula Mar Club in the Bahamas (view here). The video premiered on Entertainment Tonight and garnered attention from PEOPLE Magazine, OK! Magazine, E! News, Access Hollywood and US Weekly, while receiving significant airplay on CMT Music.
The momentum stateside continued with the release of the album. Brett sat down with Kelleigh Bannen this month in Nashville for an interview with “Today’s Country” on Apple Music’s Beats 1 (listen). The Boot named Brett one of their Artists to Watch in 2020, writing, “already beloved in his home country of Canada, Brett Kissel is poised to take his place in the U.S. mainstream.” On top of that, last week, Brett performed at The Ryman on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage for the 11th time.
Last week, “Drink About Me” was included on Rolling Stone’s Trending 25 – the fastest-rising songs of the week in America – in the #4 position.
