“Most of my career highlights have been experienced at the CCMAs, whether those were meeting some of my favorite artists, performing collaborations with Hall of Famers, or rocking out on the biggest stage in Canadian country,” says Brett. “This year, with 8 nominations, I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to roll into Edmonton, my hometown, and experience what’s yet to come with my friends and family by my side.”
The 2014 CCMA Awards show will be broadcast Sunday, September 7, on CBC at 8:00 p.m. local time (8:30 NT) with an encore airing on CMT at 10:00 p.m. ET.
Earlier this week, Brett premiered the music video for his latest single, “Tough People Do,” the fourth single off his major label debut album Started With A Song. Watch now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHKeCw6HSLQ
It was announced last month that Brett will open for Brad Paisley on a 14-date coast-to-coast Canadian tour, starting October 2 in Victoria, BC.
Brett Kissel is THE Canadian country music story of the past year. The Flat Lake native overcame the odds of making it out of small town Alberta to sign a major label recording contract as well as finding a home with the same management company that helped guide the career of Garth Brooks. In March, Brett became the first country artist to be awarded with the JUNO for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 17 years. His singles “Started With A Song” and “3-2-1” were both Top 3 radio hits and both reached No. 1 on CMT’s Chevrolet Top 20 Countdown.
